The ‘Bud’ will be making his return in almost over a year. He was last seen in action against the Showtime, Shawn Porter where he forced the latter to retire on the stool in the tenth. It was a dominant performance by the Nebraska native who connected with crisp shots every now and then. The win also opened the gates for a potential mega-million dollars clash with the other champ in the division, Spence Jr.

There was a positive development until September when things started to fall apart with negotiations jolted still. Crawford who no longer represents Top Rank had openly invited a fight with Spence but the financial disagreements between the two parties proved to be the final nail in the coffin as the duo decided to take separate paths. The door to that fight is still not closed as there is a ray of hope if Crawford gets past Avanesyan in an easy fashion. Crawford has a lot to prove to the onlookers and his fans. Latest News

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has claimed that the PPV won’t even get 10,000 buys (via Bad Left Hook): “I mean, it won’t do 10,000 buys. 10,000! If it’s $60 it won’t do 10,000 buys. So, like, if you’re getting paid that much to fight Avanesyan, you want 20 (million) to fight Spence, or you want 25, which is still too much money.

“I say it’s not the right commercial price, or right commercial value, but if it’s out there — it’s just madness. I just feel like you’re gonna be inactive, these guys are so inactive. Like Errol Spence now, when is he gonna fight? They’re talking March maybe, against Thurman or something like that.”

Odds

The odds for the fight currently see Crawford as the heavy favourite:

  • Terrence Crawford to win: 1/14
  • Draw: 20/1
  • David Avanesyan to win: 13/2

This 12-round bout for the WBO Welterweight belt will be the headliner on PPV. The event will be broadcast by BLK PRIME for $39.95.

There are Apple and Android apps that offer BLK PRIME movies and shows on your smartphones, tablets and even on streaming media players like Roku and AppleTV.

The PPV event is not part of the standard $3.99 a month subscription to the BLK PRIME service, much like how DAZN will often offer extra PPV content on top of the standard £7.99 per month subscription cost.

Crawford revealed on Brian Custer’s Last Stand podcast (via BoxingNews24) that he would be getting around $10 million for the bout when asked by the host.

He revealed: “It’s a one-fight deal. I don’t know what [Adrien] Broner’s deal & structure is like, but I already got half of my money, and I’m going to get my other half before I even step in the ring a week before.

“That way, I don’t have to worry about whether they have the money or they don’t and have to go through all those hoops in getting paid. My money is already secured.”

It has not been confirmed publicly how much Avanesyan will be getting for competing on the night.

The undercard for the event is as follows (as of writing on Wednesday, November 30th 2022):

  • Edel Gomez (6-0, 6 KOs) vs Joseph Aguilar (4-1-1, 2 KOs) – 8 rounds Light Heavyweight

  • Robert Rodriguez (10-1-2, 5 KOs) vs Jose Lopez (3-2-1) – 6 rounds Super Bantamweight
  • Alton Alik Wiggins (Pro Debut) vs Phillip Carmouche (2-3) – 4 rounds

UK Start Time

The fight card is scheduled to start at around 7:00 PM EST, which equates to 12:00 AM GMT on Sunday, December 11th 2022.

What the fighters are saying

Speaking to Fight Hub TV (via BoxingNews24), Avanesyan claimed that this will not be the ‘easy’ fight for Crawford that some fans are expecting.

He said: “My manager called me and said, ‘Crawford’ and I said, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I want this fight.’ This is a good fight. This is not an easy fight for Terence for fans that understand boxing.

“American fans see that I lost to Egidijus Kavaliauskas and that he lost to Crawford. I’m a quality fighter. I’m 34 years old. I’m focused on this fight.

“My focus is December 10th against Terence Crawford. You know Terence Crawford is a good fighter, and I know he’s a good fighter. Many boxing fans know he’s a good fighter. This is good for me.”
